Refund and Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

This policy explains what happens to any amount you pay when booking an appointment at Gift of Sight Eye Hospital("the Hospital"), if that appointment is changed, cancelled or missed. It applies to appointments booked through the Hospital's WhatsApp booking service and through its front desk.

1. What you pay when you book

Booking an appointment online may require an advance towards the consultation or investigation fee. The advance is shown to you before you pay, and it is adjusted against the total charge at the Hospital. It is not an additional charge.

The balance, if any, is payable at the Hospital at the time of your visit.

2. Cancelling or rescheduling your appointment

  • More than 4 hours before your appointment - you may cancel or reschedule free of charge. Any advance you paid is refunded in full, or carried over to the rescheduled appointment if you prefer.
  • Within 4 hours of your appointment - the slot can no longer be offered to another patient, so the advance is not automatically refunded. You may request a refund under section 4 and the Hospital will consider it on the facts.
  • Rescheduling is always preferred to cancelling. Where a slot is available, your advance moves to the new appointment with no further charge.

3. If you do not attend, or the Hospital cancels

  • Missed appointment without notice - the advance is not refunded. The time was reserved for you and could not be given to another patient.
  • The Hospital cancels or reschedules - you choose: a full refund, or a new appointment at no extra cost. No cancellation charge is applied to you when the cancellation is ours, including when a doctor is unexpectedly unavailable.
  • The service could not be provided after you arrived, for a reason attributable to the Hospital - a full refund of the amount paid for it.

4. How to request a refund

Contact the Hospital's front desk on +91-431-2459275 or email drvinod@drvarunasgiftofsight.in, quoting the patient name, the appointment date and the payment reference on your receipt. You do not need the receipt to make the request, but it is faster with it.

We acknowledge every request within 48 hours and give you a decision as quickly as we can, and in any event within 30 days.

5. How a refund is paid

  • Refunds are returned by the same method you paid with. We cannot send an online payment back to a different account, card or UPI ID.
  • Once approved, a refund is initiated within 5 to 7 working days. How long it then takes to appear depends on your bank or UPI provider, and is outside the Hospital's control.
  • If a payment fails but money leaves your account, you do not need to claim it. Such transactions are reversed automatically under the Reserve Bank of India's timelines for failed transactions. If it has not reached you, contact us and we will trace it with the payment provider.
  • Refunds are made in Indian Rupees. The Hospital does not charge a fee to process one.

6. What is not refundable

  • Consultations, investigations and procedures that have already been provided.
  • A missed appointment where no notice was given (section 3).
  • Charges raised at the Hospital for treatment given, which are governed by the Hospital's billing terms rather than this policy.

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other law that applies to you.

7. Grievances

If you are unhappy with a decision, ask for it to be escalated when you contact us. We acknowledge grievances within 48 hours and resolve them within one month, as required by the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. Contact details are on our Contact us page.
